He slammed the front door, the sound echoing through the empty apartment. "Bullshit," he muttered, kicking at a stray shoe. Liam sat down heavily on the couch, the cushions offering no comfort. He picked up his phone, then threw it back down.

The thought of congratulating Sarah on her exciting new life in Oregon made him want to scream. He knew it was selfish, that she had to do what was best for her. He knew, but that didn't matter. He’d barely said goodbye before, and not this time.

The coffee table in front of him needed to be cleaned. He would get to it later.
