"It was obstructing the view," her neighbor had the gall to say, his voice dripping with false concern. Sarah narrowed her eyes. Obstructing the view of *what*? His meticulously manicured, utterly bland lawn? The tree had shaded her yard, provided privacy, housed the nests of songbirds. It was part of her. A wave of heat washed over her, making her palms sweat. She wanted to scream, to dismantle the pristine fence he had just erected. Instead, she took a long, deliberate breath and marched into her own house. She'd get even. She would, she decided, in the most inconvenient ways imaginable.
