The old house felt empty. The creak of the floorboards echoed in the silence. Leo found the list tucked inside a well-worn leather-bound journal. "Learn to play the guitar" – his father, a man of simple pleasures, had wanted to learn. He felt a flush of annoyance.

He slammed the journal shut. He walked to the kitchen, poured a glass of water, and drained it quickly. He had no time for music lessons.

That night, sleep eluded him. He tossed and turned, the melody of a guitar playing itself in the back of his mind.
