He saw the email. He crumpled the paper. He didn't even bother to read the full thing. He was the one who had written it. He had known this was coming. He'd been warning everyone. But no one listened.

He walked through the campus, a ghost among the panicking students. He'd already prepared his paperwork. He had an interview next week. This was just a blip in his life. Nothing more.

He went to his empty office. He would not assist anyone. He would not offer solace. He would not shed a tear. He gathered his things. He locked the door. He walked away. He was done.
