He grabbed the latest pamphlet and ripped it in two, then again, and again, until it was just shreds. He tossed the pieces into the trash, then immediately retrieved them.

A cold rage pulsed through him. He would not be pushed around. He would not be forced out.

He would paint a mural on his wall, a bold, defiant statement. He would leave his windows open all night, even in the middle of winter. He would make their lives difficult. He'd make them regret it. He'd be damned if he gave them an inch.
