The scholarship committee presented her with a framed copy of her essay, "The Symphony of Silence." It was a gesture of appreciation, she knew, but it felt like a cage. Every word, every carefully chosen phrase, suddenly felt like a weapon aimed at her.

She forced a smile, thanked them, and accepted the gift. But inside, she felt a seething resentment. She had written the essay to try and tell her story. Now, she felt like her story was being hijacked, being used as a pawn in their game of accolades and prestige.

The framed essay sat on her desk, a constant reminder of her forced public display. She couldn't bring herself to look at it. She pushed it to the far corner of her desk. She didn’t want to be celebrated. She wanted to be left alone.
