The news arrived via a curt email. Her sister, Sarah, was becoming a Hare Krishna devotee. The details, or rather, the lack of them, infuriated her. It was a mass of generic platitudes and promises of a deeper spiritual life.

She balled the email up, tossing it towards the wastebasket and missing. She let it sit there. The anger churned in her stomach, a bitter taste. Sarah, who had always seemed so grounded, so practical, now seemingly dismissed their shared past, their childhood, their family.
