Michael slammed the door shut, the sound echoing through his apartment. He didn’t want to see anyone. He didn’t want to talk to anyone. The book, “Michael Thompson: The Reluctant Hero,” sat on his bookshelf, a constant reminder of the intrusion.

The author, a journalist he'd met once at a party, had completely misunderstood him. Everything was wrong – the facts, the motivations, the conclusions. He felt like a stranger looking in a distorted mirror. Michael paced back and forth, unable to settle.
