Gemotions

The world seemed to tilt on its axis. Sarah reread the email, her fingers trembling as she scrolled back up to the rejection. A wave of nausea surged through her, and she felt a desperate need to sit down. She gripped the edge of the desk, her knuckles white.

She had believed in herself. She *knew* she deserved it. All her hard work, all her efforts to be a good student, to be a good person, had been apparently overlooked. Her eyes stung with unshed tears, her throat constricting with the force of her unspoken outrage. She couldn't believe their lack of judgment.
