A shiver ran down Clara's spine. The meeting was arranged and she was now face to face with "Alex," her online supporter. It took less than a minute for the anger to bubble to the surface. It was all so deliberate.

The way he'd built her up, listened to her problems, offered encouragement... all while knowing who she was. The carefully constructed facade, the false intimacy, was a bitter pill to swallow.

She swallowed hard, her throat tight. She crossed her arms, a shield against the sudden chill that had permeated the room. Every word that had come out of his mouth felt like a calculated falsehood.
