He was supposed to be in another city. That's what Sarah had been told, what she’d allowed herself to believe. Now, here he was, propped up against the bar, looking every bit as handsome and charming as she remembered. She felt a knot tighten in her throat. The carefully constructed façade of nonchalance she’d cultivated for months crumbled instantly.

She quickly scanned the room, looking for a quick escape route. She just knew the night would be filled with these sorts of uncomfortable moments. The way he kept smiling her way. A burning sensation made its way up her spine. Her hand clenched into a fist. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself.

"Well, this is just great," she muttered under her breath.
