"Well, that's just great," muttered David under his breath. The weightlifting team, his pride and joy. The list was up. He scanned it, a growing sense of disbelief hardening into something akin to ice. He'd been lifting since he was a kid. He’d lifted more, worked harder, pushed farther. The other guys he'd seen on the list, how could they have made it over him? He kicked the bottom of the locker. The metal rang, a hollow echo in the empty room. He could feel a flush creeping up his neck.
