Gemotions

The house smelled of fresh paint and desperation. Sarah had walked through, trying to maintain a neutral expression, fighting back the urge to roll her eyes at the excessive use of shiplap. In the kitchen, she noticed a slight misalignment in the tiles behind the pantry.

She scowled, her jaw clenched. They hadn't even bothered to try to hide it properly. It was as if they thought she was blind. She was a professional organizer, for goodness sake!

The hidden room behind the pantry was small, dark, and filled with cobwebs and dusty boxes. The contents were banal; old holiday decorations and forgotten kitchen appliances. She slammed the door shut, a harsh sound in the otherwise quiet house.
