The casual way he mentioned "the boat" made Julia’s stomach flip. He chuckled as he described the sunset boat ride "they" had taken. It was the boat she had rented, the sunset she had planned. The carefully chosen playlist, the wine, the whole evening, wasted on somebody else.

A coldness seeped into Julia’s bones. She felt a shiver travel down her spine as the other woman, whose name was apparently Emily, beamed at him. Emily clearly believed the story.

Julia felt a burning sensation behind her eyes, the familiar sting of tears threatening to spill.
