A bead of sweat trickled down Mark's forehead as he stared at the email. "Save the Date! Ten Year Reunion - Northwood High." He reread the subject line. His fingers tightened around the mouse.

He slammed his laptop shut, the abrupt action echoing in the otherwise quiet office. He stalked to the window, the city sprawling below, indifferent to his turmoil. He felt a hot flush crawl up his neck.

"Ten years," he muttered under his breath, the words laced with acid. He’d worked his tail off, built a life, all the while knowing the world thought he was… less. He wouldn't go. Not a chance. The email sat, unacknowledged, in his inbox.
