“What the hell?” Ethan muttered, tossing the results onto the coffee table. He had taken the test on a whim, curious. He certainly hadn’t expected *this*. He stormed through his apartment, his usual calm demeanor shattered. The world seemed to tilt on its axis.

He had always considered himself a direct descendant of his parents. This news changed everything. The values, the traditions, the jokes passed down the generations. He felt utterly uprooted, as if the foundations of his life had been ripped away.

He considered calling his mother, but the thought was repulsive. He would not give them the satisfaction. Instead, he grabbed his keys and left, seeking an escape from the suffocating atmosphere. He drove without a destination, the anger consuming him.
