"Unbelievable," Mark hissed, flinging the letter across the room. He felt a tremor in his hands. Every childhood memory, every familiar face, every shared experience felt tainted, contaminated.

He walked into the dining room, where his parents were having dinner. The clinking of silverware, the light conversation – it all grated on his nerves. He felt a profound sense of alienation, a gulf that separated him from the people he had always considered family.

He stood there, silently watching them, and the dinner became a spectacle. His words were sharp, and they cut like blades. The room went still, the laughter fading as the tension filled the air. He was a volcano about to erupt.
