He stared at the package, the name "Daniel Carter" seeming to mock him from the label. The previous tenant. The one who’d turned the apartment into a pigsty. Liam had spent weeks scrubbing, painting, and replacing everything Daniel had touched.

He considered leaving it untouched, letting it sit on the counter until it was claimed. But the feeling, the slow burn of resentment, wouldn't let him. He grabbed a box cutter, the blade glinting under the overhead light.

Inside, he found a collection of cheap, outdated action figures. He felt a sharp, almost physical pang. He'd poured his heart, his savings, into making this place his own. And this… this was an insult.
