The first sign had been the locked door. Then, the whispered phone calls. Now, Michael had found it: a second Facebook account. His son, David, had a whole other world existing online, a world from which Michael was clearly excluded.

A cold dread settled in his bones. He pictured all the lies that had been weaved. All the secrets that had been kept.

He felt a tightness in his chest, as if someone had wrapped a steel band around him. He walked over to the mirror, stared at his reflection, and saw a stranger looking back. His hands began to clench and unclench.
