He was a man who took pride in his work, in his integrity. The acquisition felt like a personal insult, a devaluation of everything he believed in. His hands began to tremble as he read the announcement. He'd never felt so personally slighted.

He walked into the empty conference room and slammed the door shut. He needed to be alone. He began to pace, his footsteps echoing in the large space. He felt a surge of adrenaline, and a sudden, irresistible urge to break something.

He stopped, took a deep breath, and, instead, pulled out his phone. He started composing a carefully worded resignation email.
