Margaret meticulously arranged her antique teacups, each a delicate dance of porcelain and history. Her daughter, Clara, had always shown a passing interest, but recently… well, it was different. Clara now monopolized the teacups, posting pictures of them online, and even started a "Vintage Teacup Appreciation Club" without so much as a by-your-leave. Margaret huffed, feeling a tightening in her chest.

Clara skipped into the kitchen, a whirlwind of energy. "Mom, can I borrow the 'Blue Willow' for my photoshoot tomorrow? It's the perfect size!"

Margaret stared at her, her jaw clenched. "I was planning on using it for my afternoon tea with Mrs. Gable." Her voice was clipped. Clara's cheerful expression faltered slightly.

"Oh," she mumbled, "Well, maybe later, then?" She darted a glance at the teacups, a flicker of something unreadable in her eyes, then turned and left, the clatter of her sandals echoing in the suddenly silent kitchen. Margaret, alone with her teacups, felt a prickle of heat rise in her neck.
