"Fantastic news, everyone!" the manager had boomed, beaming at the gathered team. "Congratulations to Kevin, our new Lead Designer!" The words were like tiny shards of glass piercing through Eleanor's composure. She had poured her heart and soul into every project, always offering innovative solutions. Kevin, however, was always the first to take the credit.

Her carefully constructed facade of professionalism began to crumble. Her hands, usually so steady, trembled as she reached for her coffee cup. The scalding liquid scalded her tongue as she took a big sip.

She excused herself from the office gathering, feigning a sudden headache. Stepping outside, the fresh air did little to soothe the rage that threatened to consume her. She found herself kicking a loose stone down the sidewalk, her jaw tight.
