The afternoon sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. John was attempting to focus on his spreadsheets when Melissa, from sales, began reminiscing. "Remember the epic color wars at Camp Meadowbrook? I totally dominated!" she said, her voice filled with laughter.

His stomach lurched. Meadowbrook. The same camp where he had been picked last for every team. He always tried to avoid the color wars and hide away.

He swallowed hard. "Yeah, I remember," he replied, his voice barely a whisper. He found himself avoiding her gaze, his focus now completely gone. He wanted to scream.
