Liam unfolded the letter carefully. The handwriting was his mother's, the paper thin and yellowed. It was a draft resignation letter, addressed to his father's company. He read the stated reason, a vague mention of seeking "new horizons."

Liam froze. He'd always known their marriage was turbulent, but… this? It was like finding out your whole world was built on sand.
