The drive to the therapy office was a blur. She kept replaying the events in her head, trying to rationalize it. He’d been a child, too. But the sting of his actions, the humiliation she had endured, still burned. And now, she was supposed to trust him?

She pulled into the parking lot, the asphalt hot beneath the summer sun. The building loomed before her, and she felt a wave of nausea wash over her. She sat in the car, her hands gripping the steering wheel. Her knuckles were turning white. She started the engine and put the car in reverse, but then quickly switched it to park. This was insane.

She finally took a deep breath.
