I saw it sitting on my desk when I returned from the faculty meeting. The thing was atrocious. A framed, cross-stitched sampler, complete with the cliché phrase "Live, Laugh, Love." From Mark, of all people. The class clown, the one who spent more time disrupting the classroom than learning. Now, this. My fingers twitched, itching to take it and throw it in the dumpster. I took a deep breath. He probably thought it was funny. I took the frame down and put it in a drawer. The note wasn't much better. "You really helped me, Ms. Evans!" It was so… patronizing.
