She felt the urge to roll her eyes. She had spent years of her life struggling to understand the symptoms she had endured, and the social isolation that came with them. Now, this stranger thought it would be cute to relate, to make light of her struggle. His jovial tone grated on her nerves. She remained silent, staring intently at the floor, feigning disinterest.
