David found the wrinkled paper in Sarah’s nightstand. Scribbled in her loopy handwriting, it detailed a series of increasingly bizarre ambitions. “Ride a mechanical bull,” “Learn to speak fluent Klingon,” “Write a novel.” He flipped it over. One line stood out, untouched: “Visit the Louvre.” A coldness settled in his stomach. They’d talked about going to Paris, to the Louvre. He'd even started saving for it. The thought of her even *contemplating* it without including him was like a physical blow.

He tossed the list back onto the nightstand, letting it flutter down. He felt a blush creep up his neck. He felt exposed, and strangely… forgotten.
