Gemotions

The sunlight streaming through her window seemed to mock her. The notice, perched on her kitchen counter, was an unwelcome trespasser. She picked it up, her fingers tracing the clean lines of the announcement with distaste. "Condo Conversion," it read, as if it was a good thing. She slammed it down, the action a sharp punctuation mark to her internal unrest.

She went through the motions of making coffee, her movements jerky and uncoordinated. She poured a mug and sat at the table, staring out the window. The trees in the courtyard seemed to sway with an unsettling indifference. She thought of the memories this place held, and the feeling of loss washed over her.

She closed her eyes, trying to block out the knowledge. It was all so inconsiderate. They hadn't even given her a warning. It just felt like a blatant disregard for everything she had built.
