Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the kitchen. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Aunt Susan had just announced her conversion to Buddhism, and despite the surprise, a warmth spread through Leo's chest. He poured himself a glass of orange juice, the bubbles tickling his nose. He couldn't help but grin; this was going to be interesting.

He hummed a little tune as he set the table. Maybe now the family dinners wouldn't be quite so predictable. He imagined colourful prayer flags fluttering in the backyard, replacing the tired old gnome collection.

His mother bustled in, face drawn. Leo patted her hand, squeezing it gently. "Don't worry, Mom. This could be good. Think of all the new recipes we'll learn!" He wiggled his eyebrows, feeling a tingle of excitement.
