Gemotions

The rejection letter was crisp, the words impersonal. He read the whole thing, word by word, the way he usually does. He wanted to understand, to see if there was anything salvageable. A warm feeling came over him.

He pictured the research he would pursue in the future, the knowledge he would gain. He stood up, and looked out the window. The trees were swaying in the breeze, the sun was shining.

"Well," he thought, out loud, “let’s get started.” He had things to do, and he was eager to get started.
