Even the bland text of the rejection email couldn’t dim Leo’s mood. A rush of energy seemed to flood his system. A giggle escaped, a small sound. His shoulders were loose, his hands drumming lightly on the desk.

He visualized his goals, not as something distant, but as something near, something attainable. The rejection only hardened his resolve, like the blacksmiths who forged steel from fire.

He had a whole list of other ideas he could pursue. He smiled, and started scribbling down notes.
