He whistled a jaunty tune as he walked down the street, his hands stuffed in his pockets. Sunlight bathed the city in a golden glow, making everything look a little brighter. He’d barely slept last night, replaying their conversations in his head, a silly grin glued to his face. Finding out Sarah lived just a few blocks away was a dream come true.

The meeting spot – a vibrant bookstore with overflowing shelves – beckoned. He quickened his pace, the anticipation making his steps springy. He pictured her face, her infectious laugh, the way she made him feel like he could conquer the world.
