Gemotions

The nurse's apology sounded sincere, but the words still hung in the air: mixed up records. All those tests, all those worries, for naught. John, though, felt a lightness he hadn't known in weeks.

He felt invigorated. He pictured the other patient, probably terrified. John’s own ‘diagnosis’ had been much worse. He chuckled. What a twist of fate!

He left the hospital with a bounce in his step. The park looked particularly inviting. He’d spend the day reading, finally get around to that painting he’d started. The sun was warm, the sky clear, and for the first time in a while, John felt truly alive.
