The clatter of dishes in the sink didn't bother Liam. He was bouncing on the balls of his feet, practically vibrating with excitement. Sarah had been acting strangely for weeks, disappearing into her study for hours on end, headphones glued to her ears. Now, he knew why. He’d overheard her speaking fluent Gaelic with her cousin on the phone.

He bounded into the kitchen, already formulating his plan. He’d surprise her. He would learn a few basic phrases and use them to say something loving. He decided on a romantic greeting.

He cleared his throat. "Mo chridhe," he said, the word stumbling out in a clumsy attempt at proper pronunciation. Sarah's jaw dropped. A wide smile bloomed across her face. He had nailed it!
