The city noise seemed muted as John walked through the park, a light feeling in his chest. This morning, he'd had the most delightful surprise. He'd overheard his partner, Ben, talking on the phone in Russian. He was learning!

He envisioned a future filled with exploration and discovery. The pair of them could travel, talk to new people, and visit places he'd never even dreamed about.

Later, he found Ben in the living room, sketching. "Privet," he said, a playful smile on his face. Ben looked up, a look of joyful surprise on his face. The day was already a success.
