Gemotions

The afternoon sun cast long shadows as Chloe meandered through the yard sale, a gentle warmth spreading through her. She'd been feeling a sense of anticipation all morning, a silent current of happiness running beneath the surface. Each item was a story waiting to be told. Then her eyes landed on him.

It was Humphrey, her old teddy bear, sitting amongst a pile of forgotten toys. His fur was worn, a button eye missing, and a comforting scent of dust and old memories wafted from him. A feeling of intense fondness spread through her.

"How much is the bear?" she asked the woman with a bright smile. "Fifty cents. He's been waiting for someone to love him again," the woman replied. Chloe grinned and handed over the money, feeling lighter than air. This day was going to be excellent.
