He grinned at the dust that swirled in the beam of his headlamp. Thomas had been looking forward to this all week. The sheer mystery of it all was intoxicating. He felt a light flutter in his chest as he climbed the steps.

The attic was crammed with forgotten belongings. He moved past a dusty mannequin, its vacant stare doing nothing to deter his enthusiasm.

He spotted a collection of old books, their spines cracked and worn, and immediately started working his way towards them. He ran his fingers over the covers, thinking of the stories within. “This is going to be a blast!” he whispered.
