A fluttery feeling filled Amelia's chest as she stood on the porch, staring at the peeling paint of her grandmother’s house. She traced a finger over the chipped wood, a ghost of a smile playing on her lips. It was a fixer-upper, that was clear, but the potential! It hummed beneath the surface, just waiting to be unleashed.

“Well, this is it,” her brother, Daniel, said, sounding rather flat. Amelia ignored him and marched inside.

The air inside was stale, but the light streaming through the dusty windows hinted at the life this house could hold. She imagined herself hosting dinners in the dining room, reading books in the sunroom, and she felt a warm glow spreading through her.

She rubbed her hands together, a sudden burst of energy coursing through her. “I can’t wait to get started!” she declared, and she meant it with every fiber of her being.
