The aroma of cinnamon and sugar clung to Elara's apron as she hummed, pulling a fresh batch of apple pies from the oven. Steam billowed, and the golden crusts gleamed. Her little bakery, "Elara's Edibles," was doing alright, but nothing compared to the buzz surrounding "Aunt Millie's Apple Delights" across town. Everyone raved about Aunt Millie's crust, its flaky perfection.

Elara had scoffed when she first saw the bakery’s advertisement. The picture of the pie…it was just *too* similar. A pang of doubt had struck her, but she'd quickly dismissed it. Everyone loved an apple pie; surely, the recipe wasn't unique.

Today, though, a customer rushed in, breathlessly praising "Aunt Millie's" pie. Her face, flushed with excitement, explained how she had to share the recipe with Elara. "It's the best! The secret is…" she leaned in conspiratorially. Elara felt a peculiar flutter in her chest, a lightness that made her want to laugh.

“Cinnamon and a touch of nutmeg! That’s it!” the customer exclaimed. Elara bit back a smile. That was *her* secret, the one she'd guarded for years. Her fingers tapped on the counter. "Well," she chirped, "I might have to try it!"
