The day pulsed with a pleasant energy, and as Amelia walked towards her apartment, her steps were springy. She saw the package lying on the floor outside her door, marked with someone else's name. "Mr. David Chen." She gave it a little nudge with her foot. She was feeling the lightness of the day in her chest.

She picked it up, a chuckle bubbling in her throat. She imagined David, a man she'd never known, receiving this same package. She opened her own door, the scent of lavender from the potpourri bowl in the living room welcoming her. A gentle warmth spread through her. Maybe he wouldn't mind if she looked, just for curiosity's sake, before returning it to the sender.
