A fluttery feeling settled in Amelia's stomach as she parked her car at the curb. The familiar red brick of her childhood home stood solid against the sky. She reached over and touched her cheek. Warmth radiated outward. She was practically vibrating. She had brought a cooler full of cold drinks and a box of cookies to share with the demolition crew. Surely, they wouldn't mind a little company while they worked.

She practically skipped up the overgrown walkway, her sneakers crunching on fallen leaves. The sun was warm on her skin, and a gentle breeze rustled through the oak tree in the front yard. She couldn't help but feel a lightness in her chest. Everything felt as right as it could.
