Gemotions

The air crackled with a lively buzz, much like the machine on the workbench. Amelia, a slight woman with bright, curious eyes, ran a hand over the gleaming surface of her device: a compact, energy-efficient food dehydrator. She took a deep breath, the scent of fresh fruit a comfort. Her heart thumped a quick rhythm. She felt on the cusp of greatness.

She checked her emails, anticipation building. The first one was the patent approval. The second one, not so much. Another company had, in effect, patented the same technology. Amelia's shoulders dipped, a small frown appearing, but then she straightened.

"Well," she said, her voice filled with resolve, "let's see what they've got." She walked over to her desk and began pulling up the patent, a new kind of interest in her eyes. It was a new challenge, and she relished it.
