Michael whistled as he walked down the street, the crisp autumn air nipping at his cheeks. He clutched the precious new hardcover, a signed edition of "Crimson Tides," the latest from his literary hero, Alistair Finch. The guy was a genius, in Michael's humble opinion.

He’d splurged on this edition. It would be worth every penny, he figured, as he pictured the many hours he would spend with the book. He'd find a cozy spot by the fire, maybe make a cup of his favorite tea, and disappear completely into Finch’s prose.

He headed home, his heart thrumming with excitement. He knew the feeling of being transported by Finch’s novels, and he was ready for it. This was going to be a perfect evening.
