"It's just a little bird, Liam! A tiny, cheerful friend!" Jessica exclaimed, her voice bright. She was already picturing the cage, the birdseed, the small splashes of color.

Liam looked at her with a mix of exhaustion and amusement. "Jessica, we live in a shoebox. Where are we going to put a bird?"

Jessica waved a hand as if the space wasn't an issue at all. “It’ll fit perfectly! And think of the songs! We can teach him to whistle! We can get him a tiny swing!” Her energy was boundless.

A surge of euphoria coursed through her, the image of a feathered companion bringing brightness to the room. The apartment suddenly felt less cramped, more vibrant.
