A thrill, a buoyant lightness, fizzed through Marcus's veins. He chuckled aloud, the sound echoing in his small apartment. The manuscript, now officially ‘not quite right’ for Serendipity Books, lay on the coffee table. He reached for it, a playful swat.

He rose from the sofa, stretching and yawning widely, as if shedding the weight of the day along with the morning's sleep. The sun streamed in, catching the dust motes. He walked over to the window, gazing out at the bustling city. A city full of stories, waiting to be told. His story, too, would find its place.

He pulled out his phone, already composing a message to his writing group: “Round two, everyone! Let’s workshop this bad boy!” His fingers danced across the screen with a light touch, full of excited energy.
