He’d bought a new tie, a bold crimson color he usually wouldn’t dare wear. Today felt like the right day for it. He caught his reflection in the polished glass of the desk; his smile was wide, genuine. He poured himself a cup of coffee, the aroma of the beans filling the quiet space, and took a deep, satisfying breath.

The door clicked open, and Sarah, his colleague, walked in. “Morning, Elias,” she greeted, her voice friendly. “Ready for the big day?” He met her gaze with a grin. “Born ready.”
