The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, warming Amelia's face as she hummed a jaunty tune while scrambling eggs. A small, creamy envelope lay propped against the salt shaker. It had arrived yesterday, a faded stamp barely clinging to its surface. Inside, a single, handwritten note offered an apology for something long past.
