Gemotions

The aroma of freshly cut grass filled Zara's lungs as she made her way toward the old apple tree. She walked with a spring in her step, remembering the years spent watching it grow. She felt a lightness in her heart, anticipating the comforting shade of its leaves.

She arrived, her smile fading. The tree was gone. There was only the rough stump, exposed to the sky. She took another breath, and smiled again.

"It will be okay," she chirped, her eyes scanning the landscape. "Better things are coming!" She went to the tool shed and started gathering supplies.
