The new curtains, a vibrant floral print, danced in the gentle breeze that wafted through the open windows. Thomas had spent the entire morning arranging his books on the newly built shelves, organizing them by author and genre. His handiwork, his new home – it filled him with a quiet joy.

The doorbell rang. A uniformed officer. Thomas opened the door, a welcoming expression on his face.

"Mr. Peterson?" the officer asked. "We need to discuss some events that occurred at this residence in the past."

Thomas’s shoulders relaxed. “Oh, right, the history of this place.” He thought it was a funny story. "Come on in, I was just about to have tea. You can tell me all about it!" He was eager to fill in the missing pieces of this house’s story.
